EPFO: If you are employed and your PF is deducted, then this news is very useful for you. EPFO i.e. Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has now extended the last date to activate Universal Account Number (UAN) under Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme. Earlier this date was going to end soon, but now it has been extended till 30 June 2025. That is, now you have enough time to activate your UAN and take advantage of this scheme.

Why is it necessary to activate UAN?

The government launched the ELI Scheme in Budget 2024-25. The purpose of this scheme is to encourage companies to hire as many freshers as possible. Now whatever benefits are going to be available under this scheme, their benefits will be available only when your UAN is activated and linked to your Aadhaar and bank account.

UAN i.e. Universal Account Number is a 12-digit special identity, which every EPF member gets. Through this, you can avail all the facilities related to your PF account online – like checking PF balance, withdrawing money online or updating your profile information. That is, it is a kind of key to your PF account.

Easy way to activate UAN

Now the question arises that how to activate this UAN. So its method is very easy. For this you have to go to the Member Sewa portal of EPFO. There you will get the option of ‘Activate UAN’.

After this, you have to enter your UAN number, Aadhaar number, date of birth and the mobile number which is linked to your Aadhaar. When you fill all this information, an OTP comes on your mobile. As soon as you verify that OTP, your UAN gets activated.

Why is UAN link necessary?

Now just activating UAN will not work. If you want to get the benefits of ELI Scheme directly in your account, then you have to link your UAN to your Aadhaar and bank account. This is so that whatever financial benefits the government is giving, they can be transferred directly to your account.

EPFO has already made it clear that the employees who will complete this process on time will not face any kind of delay or problem. If you have not yet activated your UAN or linked it with Aadhaar and bank, then do not miss this opportunity.

if you do not complete the process by 30 June 2025?

If you do not activate your UAN by this date or do not link it with Aadhaar and bank, then you may be late in getting many benefits related to EPF. Also, you may miss the new opportunities and benefits that will be available under the ELI Scheme.

So it would be better to take out the time today and activate your UAN, link it to Aadhaar and bank account and avail all the benefits provided by the government.
