E-Challan Complaint: To strengthen road safety and streamline traffic flow across the country, the Transport Department has tightened traffic rules. High-tech cameras have been installed on roads and major intersections, constantly monitoring drivers’ movements. These cameras record traffic violations in real time, and e-challans are immediately sent to drivers who violate the rules.
However, sometimes this automated system makes technical errors, resulting in some people receiving e-challans without any fault. If you have received such a challan and have not violated any traffic rules, there is no need to worry. You can avoid being wrongly fined by filing an online complaint.
What is a False E-Challan?
The e-challan system is a technical system that issues electronic challans for traffic violations. However, sometimes the system records the wrong vehicle number or incorrect activity. For example, you may receive a challan if a photo of another vehicle matches your number plate. In such cases, the challan issued is called a wrong e-challan.
How to complain about a wrong e-challan
If this has happened to you, you can easily file a complaint online. First, visit the website eChallan.parivahan.gov.in. If you live in Delhi, you can visit the Traffic Police website at https://traffic.delhipolice.nic.in. Click on the “Complaint” section.
Now, enter your personal information, such as name, mobile number, e-challan number, and relevant details. Select your issue from the drop-down menu, such as incorrect vehicle number, incorrect violation, or incorrect location. After entering all the information correctly, click “Submit.”
The officials will then review your complaint and, if it is found that the challan was issued incorrectly, it will be cancelled. This way, you will not have to pay any fine.
You can file a complaint through email or the helpline.
If you are unable to file a complaint through the website, you can contact the helpline number by emailing [email protected].
Send an email with your complaint and evidence to [email protected]. You can also register your complaint by calling +91-120-4925505 from 6 am to 12 pm. Ensure you have a copy of the challan and vehicle-related documents handy so that officials can easily verify the complaint during the inspection.

Therefore, as soon as you receive an incorrect e-challan, immediately verify it and initiate the complaint process with the necessary evidence.
