Licenses were made like this before 2019
At the same time, before 2019, manual driving licenses were issued in RTO offices. After this, smart card licenses started being made, in which it was made mandatory to include Aadhar card details. At that time, the license was obtained only by showing the high school mark sheet or any other document. Therefore, about 8.5 lakh driving licenses issued before 2019 are no longer linked to Aadhaar.
Opportunity is available only at the time of renewal
At the same time, when many such people reach the RTO for renewal after the validity of their old license expires, only then is their Aadhaar linked. This is the reason why this process is becoming very slow. Let us tell you that till now, about 2.5 lakh old licenses have been linked to Aadhaar, but more than 5 lakh have still not been linked. RTO has been doing this work for the last two years.

RTO has released the process that RTO administration Arun Kumar said is mandatory to link the driving license to Aadhaar. That is why SMS are being sent to people, and this process is going on continuously. Efforts are being made to update the record of all old licenses online.
