Everyone has a hobby, and buying a car is often at the top of that list. But many people want to avoid the hassle that comes with owning a car. It’s not just about knowing how to drive — handling car papers and documents takes time and effort. Some people also avoid buying a car because it’s not a good financial investment. For example, if you buy a car this year for ₹10 lakh, its value will decrease after a few years.
The most important thing when buying a car is having a driving license. But getting a driving license usually takes a lot of time. Even after taking the test, people often don’t know when they will get it. To solve this problem, the State Transport Department has taken a new step for the convenience of citizens.
A pilot project has started at the Santragachi Bus Terminus in Howrah. This project aims to help people who don’t have time to visit the transport office or those who live far away. Today’s report explains an easy method to get a driving license from home.
Driving License at Your Doorstep
The state government has announced that driving licenses will now be delivered right to your home. Applications can be made online, and results will be available within four days of taking the test. Vehicle owners can also apply online.
The government also has begun introducing specialty vehicle numbers. The new rule states that the person who bids the highest amount in the auction will be given the number first. This new system is going to save people a lot of time and make the overall process easier.
Quick Process
After launching the pilot project for driving licenses at Santragachi Bus Terminus, the state transport minister said that everything must be applied for online from now on. Once applied, the applicant will be called up for the driving test on a set day.
After completing the test, the digital form of the license will be provided to the applicant’s cell phone within four hours after completing the test. This will allow people to drive with no issues. Once the physical license is printed, the department of transport will send a smart card to the applicant’s home. The digital license on the applicant;s cell phone will even be officially recognized.
