Donkey Farming: If you’ve ever considered quitting your job to start a business, most people think about opening a shop or a factory. However, there’s another alternative besides those options. By raising donkeys, you can receive 50 lakh rupees from the government. In fact, the central government has initiated a program under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) to encourage donkey farming. This program is designed to support the livestock industry and assist in reviving India’s swiftly diminishing donkey population. Additionally, any state that is working to protect donkeys will receive support from the central government.

Along with donkeys, the government will also offer funding for the rearing of horses and camels. Under the NLM scheme, the government will provide a 50 percent subsidy for the rearing of donkeys, horses, and camels. This means that if you invest Rs 1 crore in their care, the government will cover half of that cost, which amounts to Rs 5 million.
Special regulations for donkey rearing
According to a report, specific guidelines for donkey farming state that a unit must consist of at least 50 female and 5 male donkeys. Under this scheme, the government offers a subsidy of up to 50 lakh rupees, which represents a capital subsidy of 50% of the total project expenses. This scheme is exclusively available for indigenous donkey breeds. Subsidies will not be granted for foreign breeds. The subsidy is disbursed to farmers in two parts: the first part upon the approval of the bank loan, and the second part after the project is completed.
