Central government employees have received a Dussehra and Diwali gift. The Finance Ministry announced a non-productivity linked bonus (ad hoc bonus) for central government employees for 2024-25. Under this scheme, all eligible employees will get a bonus equal to 30 days’ salary. An official document was issued by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.
The document says all central government employees in Group C are eligible for this scheme. Also, all non-gazetted central government employees in Group B, who are not covered under any productivity linked bonus scheme, will get this bonus.
Who Will Get the Bonus
The ad hoc bonus will also be given to eligible personnel of the Central Paramilitary Forces and the Armed Forces. It will also apply to employees of Union Territory governments who follow the Central Government pay pattern and are not under any other bonus or ex-gratia scheme.
This bonus is only for Central Government employees who were in service on March 31, 2025, or who worked continuously for at least six months during 2024-25. Those who did not work for the full year will get a bonus on a pro-rata basis, based on the months worked. Ad hoc employees with no breaks in service are also eligible. Casual workers who worked a certain number of days in the last three years can also get the bonus.
The bonus is fixed at ₹1,184. If the monthly salary is less than ₹1,200, the bonus will be calculated on the actual salary. In all cases, the bonus will be rounded to the nearest whole number.
Maximum Bonus and Calculation
The maximum limit for calculating the ad hoc bonus is a monthly salary of ₹7,000. The bonus will be based on the lower of the employee’s average salary or the maximum limit. If a person earns ₹7,000 per month, the 30-day bonus will be about ₹6,907. To calculate one day’s bonus, divide the average monthly salary by 30.4 (average days in a month) and multiply by the number of bonus days.
