The government has given two options for this – first Vahan portal and second DigiLocker app. This information will prove to be a big relief for you, especially in states like Bihar where digital facilities are growing rapidly.

RC is a document issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO). It contains information like vehicle registration number, engine, and chassis number, vehicle owner’s name, address, etc.. This document is required on many occasions like bank loans, insurance, sales, or traffic checking on the road.

Now RC can be viewed and used in digital form as well! Digital RC downloaded from government apps like DigiLocker and mParivahan is legally accepted by the traffic police. It is a symbol of modernity and convenience.

How to download RC online

The government has provided two simple and effective ways to download your RC online:

Download RC from the Vahan Portal

First of all, go to the Vahan portal.

Click on ‘Online Services’ > ‘Vehicle Related Services’. Select your state and log in (via registered mobile number and OTP).

Fill in the vehicle registration number and chassis number.

Go to the ‘Download Document’ or ‘RC Print’ option (options may vary by state).

Your RC will appear on the screen, which can be saved in PDF.

This process is extremely convenient for those who are comfortable using the website.

Download RC from DigiLocker

RC 1

Open the DigiLocker app or website.

Login via mobile number linked to Aadhaar.

Select Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Go to the ‘Registration Certificate’ section and enter vehicle details.

The RC will be visible only if the name in your DigiLocker profile and the name on the RC match.

The RC downloaded from DigiLocker is legally accepted and frees you from the need to carry its physical copy everywhere.

Keep these things in mind

Digital RC is completely valid, but sometimes it can be difficult to access it due to technical reasons, so keeping a physical copy is also beneficial. It is important to keep the RC safe and updated, as it is the biggest proof of your vehicle’s identity and ownership. This way, you can get your RC again in just a few minutes sitting at home without the help of any agent or broker! It provides you with a quick solution without any additional cost.
