In such a situation, a significant update has been announced regarding the dearness allowance of central government employees. It is reported that the announcement of dearness allowance for July-December is expected to be made around Diwali. Indications of Diwali gifts have already been received this year.

When will DA increase

Central government employees and pensioners can get some good news before Diwali. Apart from this, the increase in dearness allowance for July-December 2025 can be announced before Diwali. Under the Seventh Pay Commission, dearness allowance is increased every six months for central government employees, calculated according to a fixed formula and the prevailing inflation rate.

Please note that the dearness allowance is increased twice a year, every six months. Its calculation is decided on the basis of the inflation rate of 12 months and a fixed formula. Actually, in January 2025, the government increased the DA by only 2 per cent, resulting in an increase from 53 per cent to 55 per cent. At that time, disappointment was seen among the central employees.

DA can increase by 3%

The Labor Bureau has recently released the CPI-IW Consumer Price Index of June 2025, which was 145. With this, the average index of 12 months from July 2024 to June 2025 has become 143.6. This time, DA can be increased by 3 per cent. This announcement is typically made around Diwali, and this time, it is expected to be officially announced in October or November.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?

The Eighth Pay Commission is going to be formed very soon. It has been proposed to implement it by January 2026, the process of consultation with the state governments, the Finance Ministry and related departments is going on regarding the 8th Pay Commission.

Under this commission, there may be an increase in the salary, pension and allowances of central government employees and pensioners. There will be a significant increase in the basic salary of employees. Along with this, dearness allowance and fitment factor will also increase, benefiting employees and pensioners. According to media reports, the basic salary may increase by about three times under the 8th Pay Commission.
