How to Correct Your Name on an Aadhaar Card

If your name is misspelt on your Aadhaar card, it can be corrected in a matter of minutes using the UIDAI website. First, you need to visit the official UIDAI website, where the update process begins.

Once you’re on the website, select the “My Aadhaar” section, which offers the “Update Aadhaar” option. Here, you’ll need to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. Once you’ve entered the details, an OTP will be sent to your phone, allowing you to log in.

Once you’re logged in, the “Update Demographics Data” option appears. This is where you can proceed to correct details like your name, address, or date of birth. The most important step when correcting your name is to be meticulous in spelling, as repeated corrections are not allowed if incorrect information is submitted.

After entering the information, you’ll need to upload a valid supporting document. Accepted identification cards, like a PAN card, voter ID, or passport, are accepted. Once all the details are submitted, the system provides you with a Service Request Number (SRN), which allows you to check your status online.
