PF Account: The Provident Fund Account (PF Account) serves as a significant financial initiative for individuals in employment. The management of this account is overseen by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Each month, 12 percent of an employee’s salary is contributed to the PF account, with the employer matching this contribution. Thus, the account is sustained through the collaborative efforts of both the employee and the employer.

PF account offers financial stability

The PF account offers financial stability to employees during critical times. Through this initiative, the government aims to safeguard the working population from experiencing financial difficulties post-retirement or during unforeseen circumstances. Occasionally, the bank account associated with the PF account may become inactive or closed, which can hinder the account holder’s access to their PF funds. To address such issues, the EPFO has introduced the option to link two bank accounts to the PF account, enhancing convenience for employees.

If the bank account linked to your PF account is inactive or if you wish to associate a different account, then follow the process step by step:

Step 1 – Begin by visiting the EPFO’s member portal at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/. To log in, enter your Universal Account Number (UAN) and password.

Step 2 – Next, click on the ‘Manage’ tab and select the ‘KYC’ option from the dropdown menu. You will find the option to link an additional bank account here.

Step 3 – Finally, provide all necessary details regarding your new bank account, including the account number, IFSC code, and any other required information.

Step 4 – Upon entering all the required information for the additional bank account, a one-time password (OTP) will be dispatched to your registered mobile number for verification purposes.

Step 5 – Conclude the process by inputting the received OTP.

Step 6 – Once this entire procedure is completed and your second account is activated, you will be able to transfer the funds from your PF account into it.
