EPFO: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is currently focused on enhancing its system to make its services more accessible for the public. EPFO anticipates finishing the initial phase of its technical enhancement by March 31.
Majority of the new systems will be in place by that time
In this initial stage of EPFO, the database will be consolidated. Subsequently, it is anticipated to aid in boosting the efficiency of several services such as claim processing, settlements, and complaints. A high-ranking government official stated that March 31 is the final deadline, and we anticipate that the majority of the new systems will be in place by that time.
Central IT Enabled System or CITES 2.01
He mentioned that the transformation might require additional time, but we anticipate that it will be entirely finished and executed as quickly as possible. The new platform, referred to as Central IT Enabled System or CITES 2.01, aims to enhance the performance of EPFO. This modernization initiative seeks to simplify claim processing and payments, updating the outdated field office application software to improve service provision.
The updated IT system will offer a ledger for all member accounts based on UAN. As of March 7 this year, EPFO reported more than 11.78 crore member accounts, but it has encountered difficulties in delivering timely services to members for several years, such as delays in processing claims and settlements, transferring accounts, obtaining e-passbooks, or making basic corrections to member profiles. Indeed, associations of EPFO officers have previously contacted EPFO, pointing out these issues and requesting an upgrade to the IT system and infrastructure for managing retirement funds.
