Bullet Train India: Good news for railway passengers. Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav made an important announcement on Monday, May 11th. He mentioned that Indian Railways has now outpaced air travel. The trip from Delhi to Lucknow will now only take two hours. Let’s see what more the Railway Minister has to share.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav remarked, “Flights will no longer be the main choice. Airlines will nearly vanish from this area. Almost 99 percent of the traffic on the new routes will be handled by rail.” He also reiterated that the journey from Delhi to Lucknow will now take just two hours.

New project for Delhi-Lucknow route

At present, the quickest trains from Delhi to Lucknow are the Vande Bharat Express and Shatabdi Express, which take around 6 to 6.30 hours. However, with a new initiative, bullet trains will allow you to travel from Delhi to Lucknow in just 2 hours. Not only will the travel time from Delhi to Lucknow decrease, but many other routes will also see reduced travel times between cities. It will now take only 3.50 hours to get to Varanasi from Delhi. Thanks to the high-speed rail corridor, the Varanasi-Patna and Varanasi-Lucknow areas will form a unified economic zone.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has indicated that the bullet train corridor will shorten travel durations. People will now choose trains over airlines. The government is developing the new corridor, and it will now take just 28 minutes to travel from Mumbai to Pune. The journey from Pune to Hyderabad will take 1 hour and 55 minutes, and from Hyderabad to Bengaluru will be approximately 2 hours.

Amritsar to Jammu Bullet Train Soon!

A major step is underway towards a high-speed rail network in Jammu and Kashmir. The National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) will soon begin final surveys for a proposed 240-kilometer bullet train corridor from Amritsar to Jammu. This project is considered an extension of the Delhi-Amritsar bullet train corridor, providing a new impetus to Jammu and Kashmir’s connectivity. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has confirmed plans for a high-speed rail corridor (bullet train) between Amritsar and Jammu, which will cover the 240-kilometer distance in just two hours.

Following the Vande Bharat route to Kashmir, the Railway Ministry has now begun work on a high-speed rail corridor between Amritsar and Jammu, aiming to reduce travel time from 4-5 hours to just 2 hours. Upon completion, the Amritsar-Jammu journey, which currently takes 4-5 hours, will be reduced to approximately 2 hours. This will provide passengers with a faster, safer, and modern travel facility. Work on the country’s first bullet train project, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, is progressing rapidly and is expected to be operational by August next year.

State-of-the-art LIDAR technology, drone surveys, and aerial mapping will be used to survey and map the corridor. Under the project, the track will be designed for speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, while the bullet train’s operating speed will range from 250 to 320 kilometers per hour. This high-speed rail project is expected to significantly benefit tourism, business, and religious travel in Jammu and Kashmir. In particular, pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi will find their journeys easier and faster.
