Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself shared this crucial information on the social media platform ‘X’. He explained that the scope of the Chief Minister’s Self-Help Allowance Scheme, already in operation under the state government’s ‘7 Resolves’ program, has now been expanded.

Expansion of the Chief Minister’s Self-Help Allowance Scheme

The Chief Minister announced that the Self-Help Allowance Scheme, which was previously provided to unemployed youth with intermediate degrees, has now been extended to unemployed graduates with Arts, Science, and Commerce degrees. This scheme will prove to be a major financial boost for youth seeking employment.

Eligibility and Time Limit for Benefits

The Chief Minister clarified that graduate youth between the ages of 20 and 25 who are neither studying nor seeking employment, are not self-employed, nor are they employed in any government, private, or non-government sector, will be provided the Chief Minister’s Self-Help Allowance at the rate of ₹1,000 per month for a maximum period of two years. The Chief Minister expressed his strong hope that the youth will use this assistance to obtain necessary training and prepare for competitive examinations, thereby securing their future.

A massive target of 1 million jobs in the next 5 years

The Bihar Chief Minister also reiterated that since the formation of the new government in November 2005, providing government jobs and employment to as many youth as possible, empowering and enabling them, has been our top priority.

Emphasis on Skill Development

Nitish Kumar reminded that a massive target has been set to provide government jobs to 1 million youth over the next five years. He emphasized that in the coming years, a large number of new jobs will be created in both the government and private sectors.

To achieve this ambitious goal, youth are being provided with skills development training to facilitate their easy access to jobs or employment. This unemployment allowance is also a strong step in this direction, directly supporting youth in enhancing their capabilities.
