Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana : Millions of women in Maharashtra are anxious for the next installment of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. Many beneficiaries completed e-KYC by December 2025, yet they haven’t received the December payment. January 2026 has already begun, but the government hasn’t announced the installment date. Women are worried about the delay and when the Rs 1,500 will be credited to their accounts.

The Maharashtra government mandated e-KYC to ensure only eligible women receive benefits under the scheme. Aditi Tatkare, director of the Women and Child Development Department, herself appealed on social media to complete e-KYC by December 31, 2025, or else benefits would be stopped. The process is easy on the portal https://ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in, but despite completing it, many women did not receive the December installment. Officials say the verification process is ongoing.

When will the January installment come?

The government has not yet announced an official date. Some reports suggest the installment may be released after the BMC elections (January 15, 2026). Local reports also speculate that the two December-January installments (totaling Rs 3,000) will be deposited simultaneously around Makar Sankranti (January 14). However, there is no confirmation from the Chief Minister’s Office or the department. This has created excitement among women, but also uncertainty. The November installment was released in the first week of January.

Scheme Key Features and Eligibility

Women residing in Maharashtra between the ages of 21 and 65 receive Rs 1,500 per month through DBT. This includes married, widowed, divorced, or having an unmarried daughter. The family’s annual income must be less than Rs 2.5 lakh. The bank account must be linked to Aadhaar, and there must be no four-wheeler, and the family must not have any taxpayers or government employees. Required documents include Aadhaar, ration card, voter ID, and income certificate. Those with yellow or orange ration cards do not need income proof.

The government has not yet announced an official date for the January 2026 installment. The Department of Women and Child Development has also not issued a clear statement, further fueling confusion among beneficiaries. The “Majhi Ladki Baheen Yojana” is a major step toward empowering women with self-reliance. However, the delay in installments is raising questions about the scheme’s credibility. Beneficiaries hope the government will soon clarify the payment date and alleviate their financial concerns.
