UIDAI has extended the free facility of the Aadhaar update by 1 more year. Now you can update your Aadhaar online without any charge till 14 June 2026. But if you have not yet updated your e-KYC or address in Aadhaar, then the benefit of many government schemes may stop in the future.

Ration card, gas subsidy, pension, scholarship, or PM Kisan Yojana, Aadhaar must be correct and updated for any of these facilities. Let us know which 10 important government facilities can be lost if Aadhaar is not updated and the simplest way to update Aadhaar for free sitting at home.

1. PM Kisan Yojana

In this scheme, an installment of Rs 2,000 is transferred directly to the bank account in four months. But if your Aadhaar number is not linked to the bank account or EKYC is incomplete, then the installment may get stuck.

2. Gas Subsidy

Subsidy on LPG cylinder comes directly to the bank. If Aadhaar is not linked, the entire bill will have to be paid without subsidy.

3. Ration Card

Aadhaar must be updated to get cheap grains under NFSA. If the name is wrong or OTP does not come on the mobile number, then this facility will not be available.

4. National Pension Schemes

Aadhaar verification is necessary for pension to the elderly. If there is a mistake, the pension amount may get stuck.

5. Scholarship

The scholarship given to students is now linked to Aadhaar under DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). Even a single document is wrong and the money can be stopped.

6. MNREGA Wages

Wage payment to MNREGA workers is also linked to Aadhaar. If there is a name mismatch in verification, the payment will go on hold.

7. Benefits of Jan Dhan Account

The benefits available on zero balance accounts like insurance and overdrafts are based on Aadhaar. If this update is not done, then the benefits will be missed.

8. Kisan Credit Card

Farmers will get loans, subsidies, and insurance benefits on Kisan Credit Card only when Aadhaar and bank linking are correct.

9. Ayushman Bharat Schemes

Insurance up to Rs 5 lakh is available free of cost, but verification with Aadhaar is necessary. Wrong DOB or name and you may be out of the claim.

10. Application for Government Jobs

Aadhaar is mandatory for eKYC and registration in many government recruitments. Document mismatch may mean form rejection.

How to update Aadhaar

First of all, go to UIDAI’s site https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.

Login and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, fill in the captcha click on ‘Send OTP’, and log in with the OTP received on the registered mobile number.

Now click on the ‘Aadhaar Update’ option.

Select the address and then click on ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’.

Now your old address will appear on the screen, below that you will get the option to fill in the new address and enter the correct information as it is in your address proof.

Upload address proof like electricity bill, passport, bank statement, voter ID.

Check the declaration box and submit.
