The Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO) has issued clear and strict instructions to the Central Pension Processing Centers (CPPCs) of all authorized banks to provide each pensioner with a slip after their monthly pension is credited, without fail.

Why is monthly pension slip necessary?

The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, confirmed that it had been receiving complaints that pension slips were not being sent by banks’ CPPCs. This slip is not just a piece of paper; it is a vital document for pensioners in their financial planning and record-keeping. This slip contains complete information about the pension amount credited, various deductions, pension revisions, and arrears.

Instructions were issued earlier also

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time mandatory pension slips have been mandated. The Department of Expenditure had previously identified this issue and issued detailed guidelines in February 2024. The order at that time clearly stated that CPPCs must send pension slips to pensioners’ registered mobile numbers via SMS/WhatsApp and email immediately after pension credit. It also stipulated that the slips’ format and font should be legible for pensioners of all ages. Despite this, the complaints continued, forcing the CPAO to reiterate its position. This time, the instructions have been issued in more stringent terms.
