Up to 90 percent subsidy on boats and nets
The most significant feature of this scheme is that the government will provide a subsidy of up to 90 percent of the total unit cost. The unit cost for the fishing wooden boat package has been fixed at Rs. 1,24,400. For the fishing FRP boat package, the cost is Rs. 1,54,400. Additionally, the unit cost for the cast net package has been set at Rs. 16,700. This means that fishermen will have to spend very little from their own pockets.
Who can benefit from the scheme?
This scheme is not limited to traditional fishermen only. Members of the State Fishermen Cooperative Society, women engaged in fishing, and fishermen belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes are also eligible. Eligible fishermen from all districts of Bihar can apply for this scheme.
Online application process and required documents
To simplify the application process, the government has made it entirely online. Interested fishermen must apply by December 31, 2025, on the website fisheries.bihar.gov.in. During the application process, applicants will need to upload their mobile number, bank branch name, account number, IFSC code, Aadhaar card, and fishing-related certificates.
