Is your child more than 5 years old and has not yet had the biometric update done in his Aadhaar Card? Then this news is very important for you! More than 7 crore children across the country have not received this necessary update even after completing 5 years of age. To solve this problem, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the organization that issues Aadhaar, is now going to take a big initiative.

UIDAI is going to start the process of biometric update of children through schools across the country. According to PTI News, this work will start in a phased manner in the next 45 to 60 days. This information was given by UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar last Sunday.

Schools will become the center of Aadhaar update

According to the news, UIDAI is now developing a technology through which the biometric update of children can be done in the school premises with the consent of parents. The authority is currently testing this technology, and it is expected that it will be ready in the next two months.

Rules for Aadhaar biometric update

According to the rules, a biometric update is free between the ages of 5 and 7 years, but after 7 years, a fee of ₹ 100 has to be paid for it. If this update is not done within the stipulated time, the Aadhaar number may also be deactivated, due to which children will not be able to avail themselves of the benefits of government schemes and services.

Essential for school admission and other benefits

After a biometric update, the Aadhaar card can be easily used in services like school admission, scholarship, government schemes, and exam registration. This ensures a smooth and hassle-free identification process for children.

UIDAI is also planning to provide this facility through schools and colleges for the second mandatory biometric update (MBU) at the age of 15.

The facility will reach every district

Under this important project, the authority will send biometric machines to every district, which will be sent to different schools on a rotation basis. This will enable more and more children to avail themselves of this facility, and they will not have to go far for an Aadhaar update.

The aim of the authority is that all children get the full benefit of government schemes on time, and the process related to their identification should be easy and accessible. This is an important step for the future of children, so that they can take advantage of their education and other rights without any hindrance.
