Great news for those who have been keen on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana! The government has launched a new initiative for beneficiaries, but there are some updates to the eligibility criteria this time around. Ram Darsh Chaudhary, the Project Director for Maharajganj district, shared important information about the ongoing efforts related to the housing scheme and who qualifies for it.

According to officials, this work is a priority. The project director mentioned that the survey process began on January 1 and will be completed in several phases. They are currently compiling a list of eligible individuals.

The list will be created using this method

The project director explained that there are two approaches to conducting the survey. First, eligible individuals can register themselves, and second, our surveyors will assist in the process. This includes local lekhpals and secretaries who will compile the list at the community level.

The data will be reviewed again

He mentioned that once this information is ready at the village level, officials will conduct an on-site inspection to verify its accuracy.

Following this, the Gram Panchayat will approve the list of letters at the village level.

The district-level committee will handle this task. The project director explained that after this, a committee led by the DM at the district level will finalize the list and forward it to the government. Based on this, housing will be allocated over the next five years.

The funding will be distributed in three phases. He explained that the housing funds are released in three stages: 40,000 rupees in the first phase, 70,000 in the second, and 10,000 in the third.

These additional benefits will be provided

The Project Director stated that along with the PM Awas scheme, eligible individuals will receive various benefits such as the Ujjwala Gas Scheme, toilet construction, electricity, drinking water, and more. Additionally, wages for 90 days will also be provided.

Eligibility criteria will apply

Project Director Ram Darsh Chaudhary noted that there are specific eligibility requirements in place. Only those who meet these criteria will qualify for housing. Households earning 15,000 rupees per month will not be eligible, nor will those who own a fridge, AC, or any three-wheeler or four-wheeler vehicles.
