Bharat Taxi Launch 2026: A new change will now be seen on the streets of Delhi. Amidst private companies like Ola, Uber, and InDrive, Bharat Taxi has officially arrived. It is the country’s first cooperative taxi service, launched by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah at Vigyan Bhawan. After operating as a pilot project for a long time, the service is now fully available to the general public of Delhi.
A Unique Initiative Without Commission
The most revolutionary aspect of Bharat Taxi is its business model, which is completely focused on driver empowerment. Drivers joining the platform will now be called ‘Sarathi’, who will be the true owners of this cooperative model. Unlike other private apps, the company will not deduct any hefty commission.

The entire fare for the ride will be deposited directly into Sarathi’s bank account. It is operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, a joint development of the Ministry of Cooperation and the National e-Governance Division. A special council has also been formed to oversee this entire system.
How to book and what are the app’s special features
Using Bharat Taxi is as simple as using Ola or Uber. Android and iPhone users can download it from their respective app stores. The app is available in Hindi, English, Gujarati, and Marathi. After downloading, you must register using your mobile number and OTP. To book a ride, you must enter your pickup and drop-off location, after which you can choose between a bike, an auto, or a car. Once the booking is confirmed, live tracking will begin, allowing you to monitor your trip status.

Relief for Passengers
It is often seen that during rain, traffic, or peak hours, private cab companies charge double fares in the name of “surge pricing.” Bharat Taxi will not face this problem; fares will remain stable, ensuring passengers’ pockets are not burdened.
It is claimed that fares may be lower than those of other cab services available in the market. The app also boasts robust security measures. Police verification is mandatory for all riders, and the app includes features like an SOS button, emergency services, and live location sharing.
