Bank Close

Bank Holiday: Big news for bank customers. Are banks open today, April 9th? Many bank customers are curious about whether banks will be operational tomorrow, Thursday. Assembly elections and by-elections are set to occur in various states today, Thursday, April 9th, 2026. Consequently, residents in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, and other regions are eager to find out if banks will be open today.

Reports indicate that voting is planned for Thursday, April 9th in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry. Election activities are also taking place in several other states. Generally, local authorities declare a holiday on election day in areas where voting is conducted to aid the voting process.

Nonetheless, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)’s official holiday calendar marks April 9 as a holiday for the state of Kerala. Kerala will conduct a single-phase statewide election. This is the reason why the RBI has announced that banks in Kerala will be closed on Thursday, April 9. Banks in all other states will remain open. However, it is recommended that customers verify with their nearest bank beforehand.

Even if banks are not open, customers should not experience significant inconvenience, as services such as ATMs, mobile banking, and internet banking will function as usual. Regarding central government offices, government offices in Kerala will be closed.
