UPI Payments: Due to the deepening tension between India and Pakistan, cyber criminals have also become increasingly active in the country. Due to the fraud with customers, lakhs of petrol pump owners and petroleum companies of the country have decided to take a big precautionary step. That is, from today i.e. Saturday 10 May 2025, payment by UPI and card will be stopped at petrol pumps in the country. Although this will cause problems to lakhs of vehicle owners, but with this step of petroleum companies, they will not be able to become victims of cyber fraud.
According to the report, from May 10, 2025, petrol pump owners in many cities of the country have banned UPI, card payments and other digital transactions in view of increasing cyber fraud. UPI, debit-credit cards of banks and digital payments designed to facilitate digital transactions of millions of users of the country may prove to be harmful at present.
Digital payments stopped in Nagpur
The report says that petrol pump owners in Nagpur, Maharashtra have decided not to accept any kind of digital payment. In today’s era where more than 60% of fuel payments are made online, banning it has increased the problems of the people. According to the Vidarbha Petroleum Dealers Association, petrol pump owners are suffering huge losses due to the rapidly increasing cyber fraud.
Have been a victim of cyber fraud before
This is not the first time that due to cyber criminals, petrol pump owners of Nagpur have to ban UPI and card payments. Earlier also they have suffered a loss of lakhs of rupees due to these cyber criminals. However, petrol pump owners used to ignore it when a small amount payment got stuck or was not paid, but when this amount became big, then their concern increased and they have decided to completely ban any kind of digital or card payment.
