Bakrid Online Shopping: Big news for everyone. Bakrid is an important festival for Muslims, celebrating the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). On this occasion, a goat, sheep, camel, or buffalo is sacrificed. The meat is then divided into three portions: one for the less fortunate, another for friends and family, and the last for the household.
When is Bakrid?
As per reports, Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali, the Chairman of the Islamic Centre of India and the Markazi Chand Committee Farangi Mahal, stated, “The Markazi Chand Committee Farangi Mahal Lucknow has confirmed that the moon for Eid ul-Adha has not been sighted. Consequently, Eid ul-Adha will be observed on May 28, 2026, and prayers will be held at 10 am at Eidgah, Lucknow.” It is important to note that Bakrid Eid will be celebrated on May 27, 2026 (Wednesday) in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Where and why did the police issue a warning?
In the meantime, reports are coming in from Dubai. According to the Khaleej Times, as Eid al-Adha (Bakrid) approaches, the police have cautioned the public to be vigilant against online scams. The Dubai police have released a warning advising individuals not to fall victim to fraudulent schemes involving the purchase of animals for sacrifice during the festival. Cybercriminals have developed new deceptive tactics. The Dubai police report that scammers are posting enticing ads for sacrificial animals on social media and various websites, using fake images, low prices, and attractive offers to entice potential buyers.
How does the fraud occur?
Scammers often request advance payments for booking or delivering animals, only to vanish once the money is sent. Neither the animal is delivered, nor is a refund provided. This scam takes advantage of the seasonal demand and the urgency of buyers. The Dubai Police have shared some tips for the public, stating: “Be cautious of prices that seem too good to be true or offers that are excessively inflated. Always buy animals from recognized institutions and official platforms. Always check the seller’s credibility.”
What happens on Bakrid day?
