Ration Card E-KYC: If you are receiving free rations under the National Food Security Act, this news is extremely important for you. The government has made e-KYC mandatory for all ration card holders. According to the Food and Consumer Protection Department’s directives, beneficiaries who do not complete e-KYC by February 28th may have their free rations stopped.

Why is it being made mandatory?

The purpose of e-KYC is to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach only eligible and genuine beneficiaries. Over time, names often remain on the list that are no longer eligible. Through Aadhaar-based verification, the government aims to make the distribution system more transparent and effective by removing fake or ineligible beneficiaries from the list, so that needy families can receive their entitlements promptly.

How to complete e-KYC from home

e-KYC for ration cards can also be done online. To do this, first visit your state’s Public Distribution System (PDS) portal. You’ll see the option to link your Aadhaar with your ration card or e-KYC. After entering your ration card number and Aadhaar number, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Once the OTP is entered, the e-KYC process is completed. This entire process takes only a few minutes.

Offline e-KYC Method

Those unable to complete the online process can visit the nearest ration dealer’s shop and complete their e-KYC. Bring the Aadhaar cards of all family members with you. The process is completed through biometric verification on the dealer’s e-PoS machine. It’s important to note that no fee is charged for this, and the service is completely free.

What happens if e-KYC isn’t completed?

If a member’s Aadhaar is not linked, their name may be removed from the ration list. In such a situation, they will not be eligible for free grain. Furthermore, they may face difficulties in availing other government schemes. Therefore, it is very important to complete e-KYC before 28th February.
