PVC Aadhaar Card

If you want to change your name, address, or photo on your Aadhaar card, this news is for you. UIDAI has made new rules. From October 1, 2025, it will cost more money to update your Aadhaar card.

New Aadhaar Update Fees

From October 1, UIDAI will charge ₹75 to change name or address. For photo, fingerprint, or iris update, the fee will be ₹125. Biometric update for children 7–17 years will also cost ₹125. Getting a new Aadhaar card is still free.

UIDAI chief Bhushan Kumar said Aadhaar cards older than 10 years must be updated from October 1, 2025. People who did not update in 10 years must give documents and pay the fee. This may trouble people in small towns and villages.

Changes for Children and Aadhaar Rules

Children 5–7 years and 15–17 years will get free biometric update. It is still compulsory, or their Aadhaar may become invalid.

From August 15, 2025, father’s or husband’s name will not be shown on Aadhaar for people above 18. Only year of birth will show, not full date. The “Care of (C/o)” line is also removed.

From January 2025, only bank statement or utility bill (electricity, water, gas) will be used for address change. For name or birth change, PAN, voter ID, or birth certificate will be needed. From October 1, all updates will be done online through UIDAI site or mAadhaar app, with documents checked at a center.
