Aadhaar Card Update: Good news for Aadhaar Card holders. UIDAI has extended the deadline for online, fee-free Aadhaar card updates. People can update their Aadhaar cards without paying any fees by applying online on UIDAI’s official website, myAadhaar.
According to a new UIDAI order, the deadline for free Aadhaar card updates has been extended by one year. Citizens will now be able to update their Aadhaar cards for free until June 14, 2027. Previously, this deadline was June 15, 2026, but now one more year has been extended.
You can apply only on the official portal
According to UIDAI, the free Aadhaar card update facility will only be available online through the myAadhaar portal. This facility is available to those whose Aadhaar cards are several years old and have not yet updated their details.
Why it is important to update your Aadhaar card?
Updating your Aadhaar card is extremely important. Failure to do so will prevent people from accessing banking services, pensions, gas connections, and other government services. They won’t be able to purchase mobile SIM cards and other essential items. Therefore, you can apply online and update your Aadhaar without paying any fees.
If you update your Aadhaar card offline at an Aadhaar center, you will have to pay a fee. UIDAI has set a fee of 50 to 75 rupees for updating your Aadhaar. Additionally, you can update your name, date of birth, gender, and address by applying online on the official portal.
Process to update Aadhaar online
Go to UIDAI’s myAadhaar portal and log in by entering your 12-digit Aadhaar number. Open your account by entering the OTP received on your registered mobile number. Click on the Update Aadhaar Online or Document Update option. Fill in the details of name, address, and date of birth that you want to update and upload the scanned copies of your ID and address proof documents. After checking the complete form and clicking on Submit, you will receive an SRN number, which will help you track the status of the update online.
