The Aadhaar card is one of the most important identity documents for citizens of the country. It is required for various purposes, including opening bank accounts. Many essential services are linked to our Aadhaar number.
Recently, the central government has made significant changes to some Aadhaar-related rules. Now, all private institutions can also use Aadhaar authentication to provide their services. The Ministry of Information Technology announced this through a notification last Friday. The government stated that this step has been taken to make people’s lives easier and provide them with better access to various services through Aadhaar authentication.
Aadhaar Authentication for Better Governance
The government has stated that Aadhaar authentication will enhance the decision-making power of many organizations. This method is expected to increase transparency and inclusion in decision-making processes. This initiative is part of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Amendment Act, 2025, which builds on the Aadhaar Act introduced in 2016 for social welfare, innovation, and knowledge. The announcement was made by the country’s Central Information Technology Department via an e-gazette notification on their X handle.

Aadhaar Authentication to Verify Customer Information
As a result of this new decision, both government and private organizations can now use Aadhaar authentication to verify customer and client information. This will make identity verification easier and more organized across various sectors. A press release stated that both service providers and customers will benefit from trusted transactions.
How to Use Aadhaar Authentication
To use Aadhaar authentication, both private and government organizations must apply to specific central or state offices, providing the necessary details. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will review these applications, and based on the verification, the relevant central or state department will give final approval.
