Today, the Aadhaar Card is not just an identity card in India, but has become the most essential document for your identity, address proof, and all government schemes. This unique 12-digit number is required everywhere, from bank accounts, PAN cards, driving licenses, to children’s school admissions. All important Aadhaar-related information, OTPs, and update statuses are sent to your registered mobile number.

Therefore, if your old number has been disabled or changed, it is crucial to link it to Aadhaar immediately. Fortunately, you can now book an appointment online from the comfort of your home by visiting the UIDAI website. Let’s understand this simple process in detail and learn how to update your mobile number.

Updating your mobile number in your Aadhaar card no longer requires standing in long lines. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched the excellent feature of online appointment booking. However, keep in mind that things like mobile numbers or biometrics aren’t completely updated online, but you can schedule a visit to an update center in advance, saving valuable time.

First, you need to visit the official UIDAI website and select your preferred language (e.g., Hindi or English).

On the website’s homepage, go to the “Get Aadhaar” option under the “My Aadhaar” section and then click on the “Book an Appointment” option.

Now, select your city or location (where you want to receive the service) from the dropdown list. Next, proceed to “Proceed to Book Appointment.”

Here, you need to enter your registered mobile number. Then, enter the captcha code correctly and click on “Generate OTP.” Enter the one-time password (OTP) received on your number and select the “OTP Verify” option.

You will now need to select your identity type (e.g., resident) and enter all the necessary information, such as your Aadhaar number, name as per Aadhaar, and date of birth. You will also need to select your state, city, and nearest Aadhaar Service Center.

This is the most important step. Here, you will need to select the information you want to update. If you want to add a new mobile number to the UIDAI database, be sure to select the “New Mobile Number” option.

Tap the “Next” button and select a convenient appointment date and time from the available slots.

Once you have carefully checked the appointment details, click the “Submit” button. You will receive an appointment confirmation slip. Visit the Aadhaar Service Center on the scheduled date and time with this slip.

Aadhaar Update Cost and Required Receipt

Updating your new mobile number at the Aadhaar Service Center will cost a flat fee of ₹50. This fee remains the same for all updates. Once your update is complete, you will be given an Acknowledgement Slip by the officials. This receipt contains a unique number called the URN (Update Request Number).

This URN is very important for you. With it, you can easily track the status of your update request at any time by visiting the UIDAI website. This ensures that your important documents are always up to date, and you don’t face any problems in availing government services.
