Aadhaar Card– Big news for Aadhaar Card holders. Children between the ages of five and seven can have their Aadhaar updated for free. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has implemented mandatory biometric update (MBU) for children in this age group whose biometrics are not updated. Your child’s details can be updated at any Aadhaar service center.
Failure to do so could result in their Aadhaar being deactivated. Prashant Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (DDG) of the Unique Identification Authority of India, provided this information during a question hour program held at the Dainik Jagran office on Wednesday. He listened to readers’ Aadhaar-related problems and offered solutions.
DDG Singh said that children under the age of five can enroll for Aadhaar by providing their photograph, name, date of birth, gender, address, and supporting documents. Fingerprints and iris biometrics are not taken for Aadhaar enrollment for children under the age of five because they are not mature enough by that age.
Therefore, it is mandatory to update your child’s fingerprint, iris, and photograph in Aadhaar upon reaching the age of five. There is no fee for the first mandatory biometric update between the ages of five and seven. After the age of seven, a fee of Rs 100 will be charged.
