Aadhaar Card : Aadhaar Card is a vital document for every Indian citizen. It provides a unique 12-digit ID. It serves as both an identity and address proof. Many government schemes and scholarships cannot be availed without it. It is also required for banking and financial services. Recently, UIDAI has made several changes to Aadhaar-related rules, which consumers should be aware of.

If you’re planning to update your Aadhaar, you should be aware of the new fees that came into effect on October 1st. Now, updating your name, address, date of birth, email address, and mobile number will cost you Rs 75, not Rs 50. The fee for biometric updates has been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 125. This means that anyone updating their fingerprint photo or iris will now have to pay a higher fee.

Relief for children

The government has given relief to children. The facility of updating biometrics in Aadhaar update will be absolutely free for people in the age group of 7 to 15 years till 30 September 2026. Children in the age group of 5 to 7 and 15 to 7 years will get the facility of updating biometrics once for free. Documents can be updated online for free till 26 June 2026. But a fee of Rs 75 has been fixed for doing this work at the Aadhaar centre. For the enrolment service, the first person will have to pay a fee of Rs 700. For other persons, the fee will be Rs 350.

Stricter regulations for the Aadhaar-enabled payment system will come into effect on January 1, 2026, impacting a number of services. In light of the recent fraud cases involving AePS, the Reserve Bank of India has directed system touchpoint operators to integrate with the system. The RBI has issued guidance to strengthen risk management.

The new Aadhaar e-KYC system has been launched. UIDAI and the National Payments Corporation of India jointly introduced this system. Banks and NBFCs can identify customers simply by knowing their full Aadhaar number. Masked IDs can also be used for banking purposes.
