Transport Department Feature: UP Transport Department has launched a WhatsApp-based chatbot service to provide simple and quick service to citizens. This chatbot is fully integrated with the Vahan and Sarthi databases, allowing users to access important information on their mobile phones, including driving licenses, vehicle registrations, and challan status, without having to visit the RTO office. This new feature is considered a major step towards making transport services in the state more digital, transparent, and accessible.

RTO Launches This Feature

Users can activate this chatbot by simply sending the message “Hi” to +918005441222. The chatbot will immediately welcome the user with a language option and display a detailed menu. Currently, the chatbot is available in both Hindi and English, making it easy for most users in the state to use.

Learn about the services available

The menu provides information on driving license details, vehicle registration information, challan view and payment, commercial vehicle permits, road safety information, faceless services, and many other transportation services. Users can select any option as per their requirement, and the chatbot will guide them through the process with necessary instructions. Most of the information is shared on the user’s mobile in PDF format.

How will this chatbot help?

This chatbot is available 24×7, eliminating time constraints for citizens. Citizens can access the services they need even after office hours or on holidays. This will not only save time but also eliminate the long queues and unnecessary hassles at the RTO office. Furthermore, this service will eliminate the role of middlemen, making the process more secure and transparent. Uploading documents with the help of the chatbot is also made easier, as users can simply upload the required documents as per the prompts provided in the menu.

Government system adopts a digital service

This initiative by the UP Transport Department demonstrates that government departments are rapidly moving towards simplifying citizen services through digital means. If other government departments also introduce similar services, it will increase transparency in government processes and significantly save time and resources for citizens.
