Latest Update on 8th Pay Commission
According to the information available so far, the government has not issued a formal notification for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. Nor has the appointment of the members of the commission been completed. Along with this, the terms of reference (ToR) of the 8th Pay Commission have also not been decided yet.
Recently, the government had invited applications for the posts of Under Secretary in the Commission on deputation basis, the last date of which has also been extended. This indicates that the process is going on, but nothing has been formally decided.
When can the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?
Earlier it was speculated that the 8th Pay Commission could be implemented from January 1, 2026. The government had given some indications in this direction in January 2025, but at present no concrete date has been revealed. According to some reports, the recommendations of the commission may be implemented from the financial year 2027. However, employees and pensioners are still hopeful that they will be able to avail the benefits of increased salary and pension from January 1, 2026.
