7th Pay Commission: Central government employees may find the following information beneficial. The government has announced an extension of the concessions and benefits provided to employees stationed in the Kashmir Valley for an additional three years. This decision was formalized in an order issued by the Ministry of Personnel. It is important to note that the Kashmir Valley comprises ten districts: Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Srinagar, Kulgam, Shopian, Ganderbal, and Bandipora.

This initiative will apply across all ministries-departments

According to the government order, “The concessions and facilities available to central employees in the Kashmir Valley will be extended for three years starting from August 1, 2024.” This initiative will apply across all ministries, departments, and public sector undertakings (PSUs) of the Government of India. All departments are instructed to implement these concessions and benefits in accordance with the established guidelines.

Will cover transportation allowances (TA)

Employees have the option to relocate their families to any location within the country at government expense, which will cover transportation allowances (TA). Additionally, a Composite Transfer Grant will be provided, amounting to 80% of the basic pay from the previous month. For those who choose not to relocate their families, a daily allowance of Rs 141 will be provided to cover commuting and other expenses. The government has also assured that arrangements for accommodation, security, and transportation to the workplace will be managed by the respective departments. Furthermore, employees will receive a mess allowance similar to that of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, set at Rs 142.75 per day.

Pensioners who are unable to collect their pensions from public sector banks, pay and account offices, or treasuries will be granted a special exemption. These individuals will be permitted to receive their pensions outside the Kashmir Valley, in the locations where they have established their residence.
