Pm Kisan: Are you eagerly awaiting the 21st installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan 21st Installment)? Amid the buzz surrounding the Bihar election results, the biggest question on the minds of millions of farmers across the country is, when will the next ₹2,000 assistance amount be deposited into their accounts? Learn why the installment is being unusually delayed, why the government has held back millions of applications, and the surefire information about e-KYC and eligibility verification, without which your money could be stuck forever!
PM-Kisan Installment Delay
Under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, farmers receive crucial financial assistance of ₹2,000 every four months. The last installment was released in August 2025, and according to the rules, the next installment was supposed to be released in October 2025. However, this time the installment is experiencing an unusual delay.

The central government itself has clarified the reason for this delay. The government has revealed that millions of farmers registered for the scheme even though they were not eligible under the existing guidelines. All these incorrect applications have now been marked as suspicious, resulting in nationwide delays in installment releases.
Updating e-KYC is mandatory
Updating e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) is now essential to receive PM-KISAN funds. The government has made this mandatory to ensure the smooth functioning of the scheme and prevent fraud. If your e-KYC is not up to date, your installment payment may be delayed.
Farmers can complete this through two easy and effective methods. The first method is OTP-based e-KYC, which farmers can do themselves on the PM-KISAN portal. This is the simplest and fastest method, requiring a mobile number linked to Aadhaar. The second method is biometric e-KYC, which requires visiting the nearest Common Service Center (CSC). This is useful for farmers who are unable to complete the OTP-based process.
Reasons for Withholding Instalments
The Agriculture Department recently identified hundreds of thousands of cases that do not meet the scheme’s eligibility criteria. In such cases, funds have been temporarily withheld until physical verification is completed. The main reasons for the Agriculture Department’s scrutiny are as follows: One reason is eligibility verification, under which cases involving land purchases or ownership after February 1, 2019, are being thoroughly scrutinized. This aims to ensure that benefits reach genuine small farmers.
Another major reason is the presence of two beneficiaries in a family. Cases where installments were being received in the name of both husband and wife, or an adult and a minor, have been withheld until physical verification is completed. Farmers are strongly advised to immediately check their eligibility status on the PM-Kisan website, mobile app, or Kisan e-Mitra chatbot.
When will the 21st installment be released
Most farmers across the country are awaiting the 21st installment (PM Kisan 21st Installment). The government has not yet announced an official date for the installment. However, the biggest indication is that the installment will be released only after the nationwide verification process is completed and all suspicious names are removed. According to media reports, the amount may be deposited into accounts by the end of this month, but farmers should pay attention to the official announcement.

Special Relief
While most farmers across the country are waiting, the 21st installment has already been released to provide immediate relief to farmers affected by natural disasters in some states. Farmers in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab were issued the 21st installment in September 2025 due to losses caused by heavy rains and landslides. Furthermore, farmers in Jammu and Kashmir were also issued this assistance amount on October 7, 2025.
The government is making extraordinary efforts to ensure that this scheme reaches truly needy farmers. Farmers should remain patient and cooperate with the verification process so that their installments can be released as soon as possible.
