If you are looking for something unique and sporty in the premium SUV market, then Volkswagen’s Tiguan R-Line should definitely be your choice. Priced at Rs 50 lakh, this SUV was launched in India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and comes with a 2.0-litre TSI engine. But the question is, does it justify its hefty price tag? Let’s find out in detail.

Design

The Tiguan R-Line is longer and wider than the previous version, but the height has been reduced slightly. The front has matrix LED headlamps and a width-stretching DRL strip, which gives it a modern look. The R-Line badge, gloss black wheel arches and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels give it a sporty feel.

Interior

Talking about its interior, the layout inside is minimalistic, with most controls integrated into a 15-inch touchscreen. The screen is responsive and supports wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. However, the lack of features like 360-degree camera and electric seat adjustment is a bit disappointing.

Performance

Talking about its performance, this 204hp engine is made for relaxed driving on the highway. The 0-100kmph time is 7.1 seconds, but the low-end punch feels weak. It feels a little better in sport mode, but it does not give the excitement of a hot SUV.

The DCC Pro suspension is its biggest feature. It adjusts the damping in real-time, making the ride comfortable even on bumpy roads. There is almost no body roll in corners, and the steering weight is well adjusted.
