Launch
First of all, talking about its launch, Toyota introduced the Urban Cruiser BEV in the global market in the last few months and now it is going to knock in India. The company has confirmed that the sales of this electric SUV will start in the second half of 2025. However, its sister car Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be launched by September, so Toyota can launch its BEV version in the market before that.
Design
Talking about its design, the Urban Cruiser BEV is built on the 27PL architecture and is shared with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Its length is 4,285 mm, width 1,800 mm and height 1,640 mm, while the wheelbase is 2,700 mm. It is slightly larger than the Yaris Cross and e Vitara, due to which the interior space will also be more roomy.
Its design is modern and aggressive, with styling cues similar to Toyota’s international models. This car, which will be manufactured at the Maruti Suzuki factory in Gujarat, will be exported not only to India but also to foreign markets.
Power and performance
In the international market, the Urban Cruiser BEV will come in two different lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery variants:
49 kWh battery: With 144 HP power, front-wheel drive (FWD) option only.
61 kWh battery: 174 HP (FWD) and 184 HP (AWD) options. The AWD version has an additional 48 kW motor on the rear axle.
The biggest thing is that this EV will offer a range of 500+ km and will also offer fast DC charging support, allowing you to charge the battery in less time.
