In this regard, Toyota is launching its first electric car in India. The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be officially unveiled on January 19, 2026. Design
Design of the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV reveals at first sight that it is a modern electric SUV. According to the teaser, its look will closely resemble Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, but it will also see Toyota’s own identity clearly.
Front has a closed grill, which gives a clear indication of being EV. With this U-shape LED headlamps and LED DRLs give it sharp and premium appeal. The rear profile features a full-width LED light strip, making the SUV look much wider and stylish.

The 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and body-colored ORVMs further strengthen its road presence. Overall, the design of the Urban Cruiser EV is neither necessarily futuristic nor very simple β it looks absolutely balanced in Toyota style.

Interior
The cabin of the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be simple as well as full of technology. It will have a dual-tone interior theme, which will give the cabin an open and premium feel. The layout of the dashboard is largely inspired by e Vitara, but it will see Toyota’s touch clean.
The SUV will feature a 10.1-inch large touchscreen infotainment system, which will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This will be accompanied by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, so that all information related to driving can be seen clearly and easily.

Vertical AC vents, button-based controls and single-pan sunroof make the cabin more ary and comfortable. Reclining rear seats will be provided for rear seating, which will make long trips easier.
Performance and Range
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be offered with two battery options. The first will be a 48.8 kWh battery pack, generating 142 bhp power and 192.5 Nm of torque. The second and larger option would be 61.1 kWh battery, which would give the same 192.5 Nm torque with a power of 172 bhp.

this SUV’s range is being reported to be around 500 km with both of these battery options. This figure makes it a practical EV for city as well as highway drives. The fear of range often remains in the minds of EV buyers, Urban Cruiser EV can reduce that concern to a great extent.

Features and Safety
Toyota always prioritizes safety in its cars and Urban Cruiser EV will not be any different. It is expected to get ADAS ie Advanced Driver Assistance System, which will include features like Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control.
In addition, a 360-degree camera will be provided, making it easier to drive in parking and tight spaces. Wireless smartphone connectivity and connected car technology make it stand out as a segment even in terms of technology.

After launch, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will compete with EVs such as Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.
