Right-Hand Drive Testing
The new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, recently spotted testing in Bangkok, was completely wrapped in thick camouflage, but it was clear that it was the same production model that Toyota has already shown globally. The reveal of a right-hand drive setup is particularly significant for India, as it directly indicates the upcoming India-spec version.
Positioning and Size
The line-up of the new Land Cruiser FJ, Toyota, will be positioned under Fortuner. Despite this, its stance seems to be nothing short of a large off-roader. The SUV is stated to be 4575mm in length, width 1855mm and height 1960mm, while the wheelbase will be 2580mm.
Interestingly, this will be the highest SUV in the Land Cruiser Family. The boxy shape, straight steep profile and high roof give it a distinct identity on the road that does not get lost in the crowd.

Design
Talking about design, the front C-shape LED DRLs, strong bumpers and square wheel arches give it a classic off-roader look. The side profile features traditional door handles and usable roof rails.
C-shape taillamps with flat tailgate, tailgate-mounted spare wheels and large bumpers at the rear make the SUV more rugged. Overall, the design looks like a great mix of old Land Cruiser DNA and Modern Touch.
Interior and Features
The interior of the new Land Cruiser FJ will come in an all-black theme, which matches its strong character. The cabin will feature a large centrally-mounted touchscreen infotainment system, 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, round AC vents and digital driver display.
Features such as Laddert seats, 360-degree surround view camera, multiple airbags and LEVEL 2 ADAS make it fully tailored in terms of safety and technology as well. The 765-liter luggage space makes it more practical for travel and adventure.

Engine Options
If it talks about its engine, the Land Cruiser FJ will be offered with a 2.7-liter 2TR-FE naturally aspirated petrol engine, which will deliver 163hp power and 246Nm of torque. This engine will come with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and part-time 4WD system.
In addition, micro-hybrid set-up is also likely with a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine. Toyota Strong for India may also consider hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. Both 6-speed manual and automatic options can be found in the transmission.
India Launch and Price
Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is expected to launch in India by 2028. The SUV is believed to be one of the first trains to roll-out from Toyota’s new plant to be built in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Talking about the price, its estimated price bracket can be between 25 lakh to 35 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). In this range it will emerge as a more premium and global option than Mahindra Thar Roxx.
