Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has introduced a new facelifted version of its global market leader, the Corolla Cross. Built on the TNGA GA-C platform, the new car’s SUV avatar is distinct from its hatchback, sedan, and estate versions. It features thicker bumpers, full side cladding, and a taller stance. In Toyota’s global SUV lineup, the Corolla Cross facelift is a great alternative to the sports C-HR. It’s slightly smaller than the company’s popular SUV, the RAV4. This SUV is all set to launch in India soon. It’s also known as the “Powerhouse” in the market.
Pricing and Variants
Toyota has introduced the Corolla Cross facelift in four variants globally:
- Sport Plus
- HEV Premium
- HEV Premium Luxury
- HEV GR Sport
Prices for these variants start at ₹23.10 lakh and go up to ₹29 lakh (ex-showroom, Thailand). Although its price in India has not yet been officially announced, it is estimated to be in the range of ₹25.5 lakh to ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom).
Powerhouse of Engine and Performance
Toyota has launched the Corolla Cross facelift with two engine options:
Non-Hybrid Engine: It features a 2ZR-FBE 1.8L naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 140 bhp of maximum power and 177 Nm of peak torque.
Hybrid Engine: This 2ZR-FXE 1.8L engine produces 98 bhp of maximum power and 142 Nm of peak torque. The electric motor produces 72 bhp of power and 163 Nm of torque.
This engine will deliver excellent performance and excellent fuel economy, a key characteristic of Toyota.
Premium Features and Technology
The Corolla Cross facelift introduced in Thailand features an electronic parking brake (with auto-hold function) and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. It also includes features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
