Tata Upcoming SUVs: Tata Motors is all set to strengthen its SUV lineup in India with a robust lineup of five new vehicles. The company already dominates the electric vehicle market with hit cars like Nexon EV, Tiago EV, and Punch EV. Now, the company is targeting petrol and diesel models to make a dent in the market.
Tata Sierra
The Tata Sierra is the brand’s most anticipated SUV. It was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 and has been spotted on several test runs. The SUV will be launched by the end of 2025. It is expected to feature a 1.5-liter tGDi petrol engine and a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, promising a combination of power and efficiency.
Tata Harrier and Safari Petrol
Tata’s flagship SUVs, Safari and Harrier, will shortly receive petrol engine variants. The duo is slated to arrive in early 2026 with a 1.5-liter tGDi petrol engine producing 168bhp and 350Nm of maximum torque. The powerplant will come coupled with a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission for enhanced driving comfort.
Tata Punch Facelift
The Tata Punch, which is one of the company’s top-selling SUVs, will get its first major update by the end of 2025. The facelift will feature a fresh design language, a bigger 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a digital cluster, and improved interior quality. But the engine configuration will not change.
Tata Nexon Facelift
The Nexon is one of Tata’s best-selling SUVs, and the company is set to revamp it with significant design and interior overhauls. Media rumors hint that the new Nexon might be out in 2027. It is in development under the codename Garud and will stick with the current platform but a new look.
Tata’s SUV and EV Foothold
With its current EV success, Tata Motors is looking to expand its petrol and diesel SUV offerings strategically to reach a broader customer base. Offerings like Sierra and Harrier petrol will enable the brand to compete vigorously with competitors in both the mid-size and compact SUV segments.
