Tata Punch EV vs Citroen eC3 : In 2025, electric vehicles were a reality and not a serious consideration anymore; they were a choice for commuting around town. With spiking fuel prices but better charging availability, possible EV buyers came into the picture for their daily uses. The Tata Punch EV and the Citroen eC3 are the two most awaited entry-level electric cars introduced in India, compact, gorgeous cars from trusted brands. But which of the two delivers better bang-for-a-buck?

The all-new Tata Punch EV is the latest member of Tata’s EV family based on its very popular Punch petrol model. The car is available in two battery variants-Medium Range and Long Range. The Long-Range model has an Arai-certified range of up to 421 km, one of the best in this class. The car is high on features with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital driver display, sunroof (in top variant), and six airbags in higher trim. To add to the user’s convenience in the city, Tata has also offered fast-charging support. The Punch EV feels solid and practical while also being well-suited for Indian road conditions.

Contrarily, this is the French machine called Citroen eC3 characterized by an eye-catching design and uniquely comfortable ride. According to Citroen, it has a maximum range of 320 km powered by a 29.2 kWh battery. In simple terms, the eC3 goes for space and ride comfort. Although it does not come with some premium features such as a sunroof or rear wiper, it has a pretty large 10-inch infotainment system included with a smartphone connectivity feature and dual airbags. The ride quality is smooth, along with a suspension setup meant to tackle bad roads. However, it does not support fast charging in the lower variants, which creates the feeling of missing out on features as compared to the Punch EV.

In terms of pricing, Citroën eC3 comes slightly lower than Punch EV, so maybe that might sway the budget buyers toward it. But spend a wee bit more, and Punch EV gives you better range with a better feature set and safety, and it is apparently more future-proof.

If a feature-rich, safer, longer-range option is the demand, then the Tata Punch EV is clearly the value proposition. However, there will be a slice of people that care for simplicity and comfort without stretching the budget too far-also probably making Citroen eC3 a good contender. Most probably, however, as of 2025, the Punch EV will stand out as the smarter all-around electric car for city buyers.
