Tata Nexon EV vs Mahindra XUV400 EV : It’s electric all the way, and Indians feel more inclined to wearing compact electric SUVs than with any other mode of electric transport. Two cars that compete very well with each other in this segment are the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV400 EV. Both of these electric vehicles pack a punch in performance, provide futuristic aesthetics, and come with intelligent features. But which one gives you a better deal in 2025? Let’s compare them in layman’s language to help you choose between the two.

Design and Looks

A fresh design update from Tata has brought sharp LED lights, a closed grille, and futuristic styling to the Nexon EV. This vehicle appears sporty and modern from all angles. However, the Mahindra XUV400 EV has more of a traditional SUV stance, though it has electric vehicle touches such as copper highlights and an imposing look. The Nexon EV appeals to a younger vision of progress and the future, while the XUV400 has a more muscular, tough-as-nails appearance.

Battery, Performance, and Range

Two battery options are available for the Tata Nexon EV-Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR) with the MR delivering range figures of around 325 km, while the LR can max out at up to 465 km (ARAI claimed) applicability. On the XUV400 EV side of things, there are two battery options as well, with the top model promising up to 456 km of range. Both are nearly equal in practical comparisons of performance, but Tata’s EV is slightly finessed.

The Nexon EV delivers smooth acceleration and quiet driving. However, the XUV400 EV has better driving dynamics, and its 150 PS motor gives it a bigger punch than the 143 PS motor of the Nexon LR variant.

Features and Comfort

In comparison, the XUV400 EV comes with a smaller 7-inch infotainment display, but offers ample interior space with reasonable comfort. In terms of features, Tata has a clear superiority.

Pricing and Value

The Nexon EV kicks off at a much lower price, accompanied by a wider range of variants to pick from. The XUV400 EV costs a little more for comparable specs, but it does lend strong performance. If you’re looking into features and tech, the Nexon EV would be your best bet. If you need a spacious, fast, and solid EV, the XUV400 EV will not disappoint.

Both are great SUVs in any one’s hands going electric in 2025. Choose the Tata Nexon EV for its smart looks, feature-full cabin, and varieties. On the other hand, if it is a hard-and-fast SUV feel with strong performance, go for the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
