Renault Bridger Concept SUV India 2026: If you’re a fan of rugged vehicles like the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny, take heart, because Renault is all set to take the off-roading world by storm. According to media reports, Renault is set to world premiere its new concept SUV, the Renault Bridger, tomorrow.
The company’s recent teaser has created a stir in the automobile market, as its boxy and muscular design is reminiscent of the premium Land Rover Defender. Designed and developed in India, this SUV not only boasts a powerful appearance but also promises to be an affordable and powerful option for adventure enthusiasts.
Design and Rugged Look
The Renault Bridger is designed for customers who seek raw power and a simple, muscular look. Its digital renders and teasers clearly reveal that it will be a pure, boxy SUV capable of conquering any terrain. Thick black cladding throughout gives it a strong off-road character. The vehicle features square wheel arches with black pillars, side steps, and sturdy roof rails, further enhancing its adventurous look.

The spare tire mounted on the rear tailgate gives it a traditional off-roader feel, often seen on expensive luxury SUVs. Additionally, specially designed taillamps and the striking ‘Bridger Concept’ badge give it a premium and modern touch.
Engine and Performance
In terms of performance, media reports suggest that the Renault Bridger could be powered by the same reliable engine that currently powers the Renault Kiger. It is expected to feature a powerful 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that will generate around 100 bhp and excellent torque. Most excitingly, Renault may offer this SUV with both manual and automatic gearbox options to suit every type of driver.
Market buzz also suggests that Renault will not limit it to front-wheel drive, but may also offer a four-wheel drive (4WD) option. If this happens, it could significantly dent the market share of established off-road vehicles like the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny.
Make in India Pride
Another significant feature of the Renault Bridger is that it is being completely designed and developed in India, fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision of “Make in India.” This SUV will be produced at Renault’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Chennai.

Large-scale local production will allow Renault to control costs, potentially leading to aggressive and competitive pricing. This will not only benefit Indian customers, but Renault may also plan to export this powerful SUV to global markets, helping India emerge as a major automobile hub.
Launch Timeline and Expected Price
Although only a concept model will be unveiled tomorrow, March 10th, the production-ready model could arrive in Indian showrooms by mid-2027. Regarding pricing, experts believe Renault could start the entry-level variant at just ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom). Finding a vehicle with a Defender-like muscular look and excellent off-road capabilities within this budget would be a dream come true, attracting middle-class adventure lovers.
