Mahindra Vision S Launch: After introducing blockbuster vehicles like the Thar Rock, Scorpio-N, and XUV7XO to the Indian automobile market, domestic SUV giant Mahindra & Mahindra is poised to make history once again.

The company is gearing up to launch its most secretive and highly anticipated sub-4 meter lifestyle SUV, the Mahindra Vision S, on Indian roads. First unveiled in concept form in 2025, the car has now been spotted in a highly visible form during rigorous testing in 2026.

Inheriting the Scorpio family’s DNA, boasting a powerful, square design reminiscent of a mini-Thar, and offering petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric (Multi-Energy Platform) variants within a single chassis, this ‘mini Scorpio’ is set to deliver a highly hi-tech and aggressive take on the adventure dreams of Indian families.

The Mahindra Vision S’s exterior reveals a bold, boxy, and upright traditional SUV stance that establishes its royal status from afar. Its overall design closely resembles the rugged aesthetics of the Mahindra Thar 3-door. To enhance its sleek and modern front end, Mahindra has incorporated distinctive inverted L-shaped signature LED headlamps and sharp taillights.

Interior & Advanced Features

As you step inside the Mahindra Vision S’s cabin, you’ll be greeted with a completely new, modern, and spaceship-like luxury, a departure from the rugged exteriors of yesteryear. The cabin features a luxurious finish and a new dashboard layout. Inside, you’ll find a new 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. To beat the scorching Indian summer, it features ventilated (cooling function) and electrically adjustable powered seats, which will instantly relieve the fatigue of long journeys.

Multi-Energy Platform

The Mahindra Vision S’s biggest strength and technological backbone is its all-new NU_IQ modular platform. This is Mahindra’s first unique platform that supports multi-energy. This means that this new structure can seamlessly accommodate petrol, diesel, hybrid, and pure electric (EV) engines. Furthermore, this platform also fully supports front-wheel drive as well as All-Wheel Drive (AWD) systems for rugged off-roading.

Powertrain and Mileage

In terms of powertrain, the Vision S offers a choice of robust and reliable engines. First, you get a 1.5-liter turbo-diesel engine that produces 115 bhp and a massive 300 Nm of torque, giving the vehicle unmatched mountain pulling power. Second, you get a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol option that produces 110 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, while the more powerful variant produces a whopping 129 bhp and a robust 230 Nm of torque. To enhance driving comfort, Mahindra will offer a variety of advanced gearbox options, including a smooth 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic (AT), and an economical 6-speed AMT.

To ensure 100% bulletproof family safety, Mahindra is offering a Level-2 ADAS safety suite with six airbags and a 360-degree surround-view camera for easy parking in tight spaces. Wireless smartphone charging also enhances its convenience.

Market Launch & Pricing

Mahindra Motors has already confirmed that the first production-ready car based on its new NU_IQ platform will hit Indian showrooms by mid-2027. Judging by the ongoing rigorous testing and recent spy shots, it appears the company is fully prepared for a timely launch. Regarding pricing, Mahindra is likely to keep the starting on-road price of this mini-Thar within a very competitive range of ₹9 lakh to ₹18 lakh (Mumbai on-road).
