MG Windsor EV: MG Motor’s top-selling electric vehicle, Windsor EV, has just increased in price. The increase applies to a single variant, but it’s significant enough to get customers’ attention. This development comes when the model has received healthy customer demand post-launch. With new-age features and excellent range, Windsor EV still manages to draw attention, even at a higher cost.

Price Hike Details

MG has raised the price of just the Essence Pro variant by ₹21,000. The model, when launched in May, was priced at an introductory rate of ₹17.49 lakh for the initial 8,000 bookings. The demand was so high that all 8,000 units were booked in a matter of 24 hours.

Now, post-hike, the new ex-showroom price of this variant is ₹18.31 lakh. Although MG hasn’t formally justified why the price has been hiked, increasing production costs may be one reason.

Budget-Friendly Variant with BaaS

For those who feel the enhanced price is too high, MG provides a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option. Under the scheme, customers can avail the same Essence Pro variant for an initial much lower price of ₹13.31 lakh. That’s a flat saving of ₹5 lakh.

But customers opting for this variant have to shell out ₹4.5 per kilometre as battery usage charge. Such a configuration brings down the cost of purchase but increases cost with usage. It’s best for customers seeking a smaller upfront payment.

Features of Essence Pro

Even with the price hike, the Windsor EV’s Essence Pro trim provides value-for-money features. These range from Level 2 ADAS to Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capability. These enhance both safety and functionality for contemporary motorists.

The variant also provides ventilated front seats for enhanced comfort and sporty alloy wheels that upgrade the appearance of the car. The features contribute to making it a wise package for EV fans seeking cutting-edge technology and a silky drive.

Range on Full Charge

One of the most popular features of the Windsor EV Essence Pro is its range. With a full battery, the vehicle has a driving range of up to 449 kilometres. This makes it appropriate not only for regular city driving to and from work but also for extended driving, minimizing the need to charge at short intervals.
