The Mahindra Scorpio, combining the Classic and N models, sold 14,401 units in May. Its popularity in rural and semi-urban areas played a big role. Sales grew 5 percent compared to last year, proving that Scorpio’s rugged design still appeals to many Indian buyers.
Toyota Hyryder Doubles Its Sales
The Toyota Hyryder surprised everyone by nearly doubling its sales. In May 2025, it sold 7,573 units, compared to just under 4,000 units in the same month last year. This 94% growth shows that customers are now paying more attention to the Hyryder.
XUV700 Keeps Growing
Mahindra’s most tech-loaded SUV, the XUV700, also saw a strong performance. It sold 6,435 units in May 2025, a 28% rise from last year. This SUV continues to expand into new markets and attract buyers looking for premium features in the ICE segment.
Seltos Faces a Drop
Kia Seltos didn’t have a great month. It sold 6,082 units, which is 10% less than last May. However, a new-generation Seltos is already being developed and is expected to launch globally in 2026. A fresh design and hybrid option may help it bounce back.
Grand Vitara Sees Sharp Fall
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara took a big hit. Its sales dropped by 47%, with only 5,197 units sold in May 2025 compared to 9,736 last year. Once a strong player in this segment, it now struggles to maintain its position.
Tata Curvv Off to a Decent Start
Tata Curvv, a newer player in the midsize SUV space, recorded 3,063 units. Though it doesn’t match the numbers of established models, its coupe-SUV style seems to be finding early traction in the market.
Honda Elevate Loses Momentum
Honda Elevate continued to stay in the competition but saw a slight dip in numbers. It sold 1,461 units in May 2025, down 6% from last year. It hasn’t yet managed to turn heads in this competitive segment.
Taigun Faces Steep Decline
Volkswagen Taigun faced a sharp decline in May. With just 1,126 units sold, its sales dropped by 28% compared to last year. The competition from other brands seems to be affecting its standing.
Tata Safari Drops to Tenth
Tata Safari just managed to stay in the top 10 with 1,109 units sold. That’s a 33% drop from last year. With tough competition and shifting preferences, Safari’s position is now under pressure.
