Mahindra XUV 3XO vs Tata Punch EV : Competitors for electric SUVs in India for the year 2025 are sizzling hot, with the latest contestants being the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and the Tata Punch EV. Both compact, quite affordable, and fully electric, they stand as suitable options for family buyers and city dwellers hunting for their first electric SUV. But which one is worth spending money on? Let us deep-dive.
The Tata Punch EV was quite the talk of the month earlier this year. It has much resemblance with the petrol Punch while with the kind of modern EV styling in terms of a closed grille and sleek LED lighting. This comes with two battery options, the smaller 25 kWh battery (best suited for city usage) and a larger 35 kWh battery (for longer range). It is claimed to have a range of about 421 km with fast charging, alongside features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital cluster, a 360-degree camera, and even a sunroof on the top models.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, based on the popular XUV300, is being treated to modern-day updates in EV styling and adding cabin tech. Although Mahindra has yet to launch its electric version, the wider battery should trump the Punch EV with a claimed range of beyond 450 km. Level 2 ADAS, panoramic screen layout, dual-zone climate control, and ventilated seats are likely to be featured; these features are, most of them are already offered in its petrol variants.
Being smaller, the Tata Punch EV is more compact, and readily city-centric in terms of driveability and parking. Given its larger size, the Mahindra XUV 3XO should afford good rear seat space and boot capacity for long-distance use-even better for family usage. The Punch EV is already available for showroom purchase starting at around ₹11 lakh, while the XUV 3XO EV price is expected to start a notch higher upon launch.

So, which one should you buy? If you want an EV right now with credible Tata service, the Punch EV stands as a good choice. However, if you can afford to wait, and value luxury over and above features and range, you might then consider worthwhile to await the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. In any case, these two are expected to be good entry-level EVs to watch out for in 2025.
