Mahindra, India’s leading SUV maker, is now ready to show its strength to the world. On 15 August, the company surprised everyone by unveiling four new concept SUVs. These models mark a bold step toward future mobility and set the tone for Mahindra’s upcoming launches. The brand is not just focusing on new products but also working on expanding its production base to meet both domestic and global demand.
NU IQ Platform for Future SUVs
Recently, Mahindra introduced its new multi-energy NU IQ platform. This platform will serve as the foundation for an all-new SUV range designed for both Indian and international buyers. The first model under this setup is expected to arrive in 2027. Unlike older models, this will create a completely fresh SUV lineup, helping Mahindra strengthen its position in competitive markets.
Focus on Expanding Production
According to Mahindra Auto CEO Nalinikanth Gollagunta, the company is planning to increase production at its Chakan plant by 2.4 lakh units. However, this will not be enough to handle the rising demand. To solve this, Mahindra is actively searching for land to set up a new greenfield manufacturing facility. Once the new plant is ready, customers can expect the much-awaited SUVs to hit the market faster.
New Plant Possibility in Maharashtra
The automaker has already shown interest in acquiring 350 acres of land in Igatpuri, Maharashtra. This location is close to Mahindra’s existing facilities, making it a strategic choice. With this expansion, the company has set a target of producing 10 lakh electric vehicles annually by 2027. Along with boosting capacity, Mahindra is also focused on strengthening its service network to support customers in both urban and rural areas.
