Price
First and foremost – the price. The Mahindra BE 6 starts at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 26.90 lakh for the top-variant. But there’s a catch! This price does not include the cost of the charger and its installation, which can cost anywhere between Rs 50,000 and Rs 75,000. That means, depending on your city and variant, the on-road price of the BE 6 can start from Rs 21.80 lakh and go up to Rs 31.25 lakh. This is a premium electric SUV and is priced at the same level.

Competition
Mahindra BE6 is a leader in the mid-size electric SUV segment. Its biggest rivals are Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curve EV and MG ZS EV. This segment is extremely competitive, where every car has its own USP. BE6 stands out among these versatile SUVs with its futuristic design and feature list.
Battery and Power
You can choose the BE 6 in two battery options – 59kWh and 79kWh. Both are LFP battery packs and come with a lifetime warranty for the first private owner. This is a great deal as it reduces your worries in the long term. This battery is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor. In the 59kWh variant, this motor produces 231hp of power, while in the 79kWh variant it increases to 286hp. The torque is the same in both, i.e. 380Nm, which is perfect for both city driving and highway overtaking.
Range
While claimed range figures are often in the air, it is more important to know how the car drives in the real world. We tested the top-spec Pack Three 79kWh variant. It covered 439km in the city and 459km on the highway, giving an average of 449km! That means you can easily travel from Delhi to Jaipur in a single charge. Its battery efficiency was recorded at 5.68km/kWh. Note that the claimed range of the 59kWh variant is 535km, while that of the 79kWh is 682km.
Charging Time
When it comes to charging, the BE 6 is quite flexible. You can charge it with 3.3kW, 7.2kW and 11kW AC chargers, as well as 140kW and 175kW DC fast chargers. It takes 8.7 hours to charge the 59kWh battery from 0 to 100% with a 7.2kW charger, while this time is reduced to 6 hours with an 11kW charger. If you are in a hurry, the 140kW DC fast charger will charge the battery from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
Features
The BE 6 gets a panoramic glass roof, which is available starting from the Pack One Above trim (₹ 20.50 lakh). What’s more, the top-spec Pack Three trim also gets ambient lighting magic on the same glass roof, making night drives even more fun. The sunroof is just the beginning.

You’ll be amazed at the feature list: 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 12.3-inch digital driver display, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, powered driver seat, 360-degree camera, two wireless chargers, ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, dual-zone climate control and leatherette upholstery.

BE 6 or XEV 9e
Mahindra has also launched the XEV 9e alongside the BE 6 and there is a lot of overlap in the prices of the two. Both have the same powertrain, but the XEV 9e is a segment higher. It is bigger than the BE 6 and offers more space on the interiors, especially in the rear seat.
Its design is also more conventional and subtle than the BE 6 and it gets a triple-screen setup on the dashboard, where the third screen is for the front passenger. However, the BE 6 offers slightly more range (682km vs 656km) and better performance than the XEV 9e due to its compact size.
