Vehicle RC Application Online

It’s stressful to lose your Registration Certificate (RC), but obtaining a duplicate is easier now. The process has been computerized by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and you can apply at home with just a few easy steps.

Importance of RC

RC is among the most crucial documents for a car or bike. It ensures that the vehicle is registered in your name. It is issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and is required for lawful ownership as well as hassle-free driving on the road. If your RC is misplaced or stolen, you can apply for a duplicate without having to visit agents and pay additional charges.

Two Ways to Apply

You can apply for a duplicate RC either online or offline. The online process is handy as you can do most of it from home and go to the RTO only once.

Documents to Keep Ready Before Applying

Before you begin your application, keep the following documents handy:

FIR copy or police report for lost RC, filled Form 26, vehicle insurance certificate, Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate, and valid proof of address like Aadhaar, Voter ID, passport, or electricity bill.

Online Application Steps

First, go to the Parivahan Sewa website. On the home page, click on Online Services and select Vehicle-Related Services. Choose your state from the drop-down list. Click on the Duplicate RC option.

If you are a new user, then first register on the portal. Log in with your user ID and password thereafter. Fill in your vehicle registration number and last five digits of chassis number, then submit.

Processing e-KYC and Payment

Now, undergo the Aadhaar-based e-KYC process by submitting your Aadhaar number and creating an OTP. Enter the OTP and provide all the mandatory details in the form. Upload your documents and pay the prescribed fee online.

Final RTO Visit

Once submitted online, book an appointment at your local RTO for verification of the vehicle. Take all original documents and the printout of the application on the due date. The RTO officials will verify your documents and check your vehicle. After verification, your duplicate RC will be provided within a couple of days.

By doing it this way, it is easy to replace a lost RC without middlemen, which not only saves time but also money.
